SPANISH FOOTBALL - LEAGUE | ROUND 23 SUNDAY GAMES RESULTS

REAL ZARAGOZA was down 10 men by the 22nd min when Hector got a red card. This did not help their cause & they lost 1 - 2 to REAL SOCIEDAD which quietly scale positions in the classification table nearing the Euro positions.

Real Sociedad forward GRIEZMANN opened the scoring in the 11 th min & team-mate AGIRRETXE set the match up with a second in the 32 nd min. Real Zaragoza managed a late goal in the 91 st min via a penalty that APOÑO converted.

ATHLETIC CLUB BILBAO got literally whipped at home by RCD ESPANYOL 0 - 4. The visitors are slowly getting out of ladder trouble while the home team falls prey to their inconsistent & disappointing season. Bilbao are not able to convert their opportunities & they paid for this today.

Espanyol managed to get control of the game with the first of many goals via HECTOR in the 28th min. VICTOR SANCHEZ got the second in the 57th min & STUANI a third a minute later. A rattled Bilbao then conceded another in the 75th min when VERDU converted a penalty.

City of Madrid clash between RAYO VALLECANO & ATLETICO DE MADRID. It was the home side that took the honours tonight winning convincingly 2 - 1 with all the damage done in the first half of the game. Rayo was grand tonight while Atletico was hardly recognizable as they were disorganised in defence & ineffective upfront lead by a frustrated Falcao.

Rayo forward LASS opened the scoring in the 3 rd min when he got to a pass that went pass the whole Atletico defence. The rumoured new Atletico player for next season, now with Rayo Vallecano, young BATISTAO got the second in the 32 nd min. Nice way to present himself to the Atletico fans one may say.

Atletico never recovered & Rayo managed the match with time control & disciplined field placements that left Atletico out of the match. FALCAO frustrated all night attempted & never gave in & was rewarded for his efforts with a last second goal in the 94th min.

Surprise result indeed, happy night at Rayo Vallecano.
