ATLETICO DE MADRID won in the 1º st leg 0 - 3 & virtually assured their pass to the next phase with that result. Tonight´s return leg match finished in a 0 - 0 draw with GETAFE. It was a boring match with little tension & more after Getafe lost Rafa to a red card. ( Overall 3 - 0 Atletico )
Second Division Club LAS PALMAS managed a 0 - 0 draw away with REAL BETIS. The return match was tense, even & fought out. As time went by both teams knew that a slip could cost them the Spanish Cup elimination. Maximum tension & the defensive error came when Las Palmas allowed a Betis penetration which Betis in-form forward RUBEN CASTRO drilled home, a lethal "kill" in the 85th min. With the frustration a red card followed soon for Las Palmas defender Corrales. Final result 1 - 0 ( Overall 1 - 0 Real Betis).
FC BARCELONA won away 0 - 2 & tonight managed to comfortably knock out CORDOBA with a 4 - 0 result. DAVID VILLA was splendid tonight with two goals - 21st & 26th , while THIAGO opened the can first in the 17th min & ALEXIS got the fourth in the 55th min. There could have been more goals for Barça but the Cordoba goalie stopped a few along with the help of the "woodwork" ( Overall 6 - 0 FC Barcelona )
