The match started as it later finished hard business with both teams looking to settle things early in a direct Football manner. But the midfield turned out to be a battle ground that held tactical discipline, gave counter-attacks & play making. Very even the first half except the last 10 minutes were Atletico de Madrid missed 3 - 4 clear chances that left everyone with amazement on their faces due to all the misses.
The second half continued as intense, so much so that there were three red cards : one to Godin of Atletico & two for Sevilla for Spahic & Navarro. The three goals of the match all came from penalties which Atletico DIEGO COSTA scored twice, in the 49th & 71 st min & for Sevilla ALVARO NEGREDO in the 56 th min. The chances still piled up for both sides & the scoreline could have been more.
The semi-final is not settled as yet even if Atletico won tonight. There is still a return leg at Sevilla & the away goal give Sevilla a fighting chance. What we can say is that if the return game is half as exciting as tonight we will all be in for a fantastic game of Spanish Cup Football.
