ZENIT ST.PETERSBURG made a comeback to draw 2 - 2 with MALAGA FC which is on Top of Group C. One could say that its a just result with each team claiming a half. Malaga scored two goals in the first half via BUONANTTE in the 8th min & SEBAS FERNANDEZ a minute later.
The Russians reacted & managed a well worked & deserved two goals in the second half via DANNY in the 49th min & FAYZULIN in the 86th min. Shared points.
MANCHESTER CITY said goodbye to the Champions League after drawing 1 - 1 with REAL MADRID in their Group D game. The Spaniards knew beforehand that it would be tremendously difficult tonight away against a very dangerous team. Said this Real Madrid was solid, not brilliant , but firm in their intentions & managed a 19th min goal by BENZEMA that got them off. Chances to both sides come, & varied as the match went on , with Manchester City attacking & Real Madrid waiting for counter-attacking opportunities.
In the second half the referee for some unknown or know reason was the protagonist. Two penalties not call for Real Madrid, & one that was an invented penalty with red card included to Arbeloa in the 72nd min that SERGIO AGUERO converted for the equalizer. Strange stuff indeed.
With 10 men, Coach Mourinho took off Benzema for young defender VARANE, who did a splendid job to hold firm his wing & the Man City attacks. Real got the job done, Manchester City off to Europa League.
