FC BARCELONA considers the player as a potential “star” in the making & has been following Van der Wiel for sometime. The player is powerful, offensive minded with the sufficient defensive discipline to ensure that his forward movements do not leave the a "hole" in the defence. Barça believes that they can secure his services for around 6M€, which will be more, simply because it is FC Barcelona.The intention is to have the young Dutch International available in case Abidal fulls injured or needs a rest ( yes, what about Maxwell?) . Curious if you consider that the player would have to adapt to the other wing as Dani Alves currently hold his “natural position”.
