Amazing, who would have believed this moment five months back, ATLETICO DE MADRID Champions of the 2010 EUROPA LEAGUE (ex-Uefa Cup). Admirable opponents the English Club Fulham who never put the heads down & had their opportunities in this 2-1 scoreline; it is just a pity there could only be one winner.

Fourty eight (48 ) years since Atletico last won a European trophy, this being their second & most wanted by all the Club , fans & most of Spain. A humble Club that represents the values of the "under- dog" who keeps on fighting & picks itself up again & again, tonight they reign over everything. I personally shed a tear or two in pure emotion after , in true tradition, I had my "balls" in my throat for 116 minutes...almost like the female professionals of the Hamburg red-light district.

The game was defined in two halfs. The first half was Atletico who controlled, hit the post & DIEGO FORLAN scored in the 31st min with a fine goal. Watch the VIDEO below:



Fulham who didn´t get to the Final by their "good looks" equalized to send a clear message that this was in no way over. DAVIES "cracked" in the equalizer in the 37th min as seen in the below VIDEO:



The second half was Fulham with a complete change in attitude that created numerous occasions & had Atletico goalkeeper DE GEA pull a brilliant save that could have changed the course of the final to the English favour.

Things went into extra-time & it was turning a bit into a casino with both side very tired & very cautious not to make a mistake. A penalty shoot-out looked immient but then SERGIO AGUERO picked the ball on the wing , stood firm to pass into the goal square where DIEGO FORLAN fished his second for the night in the 116th min & the winner. Historical. There are now +100.000 Atletico fans gathering at the centrical Madrid fountain of the Sea God "Neptune" (place of Atletico celebartions) exploding with joy that will increase as the night goes on. Tomorrow the players will get on a bus & show off the Europa League Cup to Madrid with more endless celebration.
