The "Football earthquake" is still causing tremors after REAL MADRID was
eliminated by 2ºB Division (3ºrd Division elsewhere) team ALCORCON
in the SPANISH CUP. The Spanish Football Goliath was stoned “dead”
by one of Spanish Football’s David with a 4-0 victory at home & only
lost 0-1 at Real Madrid’s home ground “Santiago Bernabeu” to win the
the elimination phase with a 4-1 aggregate. This was just part of the
embarrassment as it was the way in which Real Madrid lost, in reference
to its poor play & tactically mistakes, that has opened a can of worms
full of doubts, strong criticism & in some internal Club areas with pure
panic. There is plenty of material around the web & on SFS that goes
deeper into the why & why not, but it is clear that Coach Pellegrini
hasn’t pressed the right buttons, has committed some unexplained &
serious “infantile” tactical mistakes & is facing a bubbling dressing room
“revolt” as some “scared cows” are beginning to put in question the
authority of their coach. In a nutshell, the Clubs is experiencing a
“mini-crisis” that Directives are attempting to cover up with some
smooth public relations tactics.

Apart from these facts many supporters, some media sectors & internal
staff are asking for the “head” of Coach Pellegrini; what cannot be
swept under the carpet is that some players of the current squad are
just not up to the level that is needed to play at Real Madrid. There
are clear operational field examples that Real Madrid needs defensive
wingers with class & guarantees, a further creative midfielder &
another proven goal scorer.
Spanish newspaper “El Mundo” has surprised SFS by publishing in its
digital format that Real Madrid could be already planning for the
2010 – 2011 season under the title of “The Second Revolution”. The
story arguments are that the Club will be getting rid of players not
up to level, along with veterans who maybe problematic, to be
substituted with new signings that can solve the current deficiencies
on the field & off the field. It is published that up to 6 to 8 players
are doomed to begin thinking about their future elsewhere: Drenthe,
Metzelder, Dudek, Mahamadou Diarra, Gago and Van Nistelrooy,
with Guti almost certainly with half a foot out of the Club along
with current Captain Raúl who will be slowly sidelined to have less
of a protagonist role in the team.
The substitute players being rumoured – or at least being talked about
– are again impressive, but difficult as their Clubs will not be keen to
let them go & apart from this will be very costly. The names for the
defensive wingers’ positions are SEGNA (Arsenal) & VARGAS
(Fiorentina), for the creative midfield positions CESC FABREGAS
(Arsenal) & DAVID SILVA (Valencia CF) are sounding, with the striker
position tagged with the name of WAYNE ROONEY (Manchester
United). Let’s not forget the other rumour earlier in the season of
a pre-contract agreement between Bayern Munich (FRANCK RIBERY)
& Real Madrid to transfer their French International for the next
season.

Before getting excited or angry, this is all pure speculation, & one
thing is to think about options freely with the other actually exercising
the idea to make it all a reality. The names mentioned all have strong
contracts, are vital pieces in their current teams & cost a lot of money.
Plus, one has to ask if they would wish to “risk” their comfort zone to
arrive at a Club that demands the maximum level at all times & where
the pressure is so immense & intense that many players & stars get &
have been crushed.
It news, the interesting part of all of this is that Real Madrid continues
planning & continues to comb the Football World to solidify its
“Business Model” & to regain its position as the “Biggest & Greatest
Club in Football History”. No doubt we all will be in for surprises both
in sackings & hiring’s as the season continues its long course, but it is
certainly feasible as “El Mundo” speculates that we could be witnessing
the beginning of a “Second Revolution” at Real Madrid. Stay tuned!
