the long & difficult road to attempt to qualify in their respective
Groups & if possible go all the way to the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE Final
in Madrid next year.
REAL MADRID started well winning 2-5 FC ZURICH in a difficult &
complicated match against a very aggressive & switched on Swiss
Team. In fact the Swiss started strong making Real Madrid look
uncomfortable until CRISTIANO RONALD scored a free-kick that
opened the scoreline & took the wind out off the Swiss. From here
Xabi Alonso & the midfield took control & set up goals (with a great
Roanldo header by the way) for RAUL & then towards the end of the
1º half HIGUAIN scored the third.
However the 2ºhalf complicated itself when Xabi Alonso received a
hard knock & was taken off. The disorder in the Real Madrid midfield
was taken advantage by Zurich who found spaces & in the 64th min
was awarded a non-existent penalty which MARGAIRAZ scored to
give his team their first goal. Real Madrid were still reeling from that
when a minute later AEGERTER scored a header to give Zurich its
second. Again a defensive "error" that needs correction.
Real Madrid was in danger & it was a very complicated moment. Real
put on GUTI to smooth things in the midfield & it worked. In the 89th
min CRISTIANO RONALDO did his free-kick magic again with a power
driver which bent the hands of the goalkeeper, & then GUTI sealed
things in the 91st min with a chip goal to finish off a wonderful pass
from Kaká.

Good, although shacky match in the 2ºhalf, for Real Madrid that
gives them the confidence & the 3ºpoints. Special mention to the
play from Pepe, Albiol, Lass Diarra & Drenthe who did well
tonight.
ATLETICO DE MADRID unfortunately is another story after they
finished their game against APOEL NICOSIA in a 0-0 draw. If the fans
were angry with the Club before this game, imagine now that they
were´nt able to grab points from the weakest team in their Group.
The reason was luck, or lets say bad luck, & that Apoel played the
best game in their history. The Cyprus team stopped everyting the
Spaniards threw at them & DIEGO FORLAN even hit the post in the
latter part of the match, not mentioning the numerous saves from an
incredible Apoel goalkeeper.
Having said this, Atletico will be super disappointed with this result as
now they face stronger teams like Oporto & Chelsea that will not allow
Atletico to get away if they miss their chances. The Spanish team
is suffering from things not solved in the pre-season, that is signing of
key players for key positions - creative midfielder & defence.
More problems in the horizon for Atletico if they don´t get their shit
