SPANISH FOOTBALL - LA LIGA 2008 / 2009 - ROUND 26 RESULTS

Hi, just got back from a weekend in the countryside. Here is a quick
summary of Round 26 Spanish Football 1º Division - La Liga - results.
Excuse regular readers of its all brief, as I have just arrived & a wee bit
late!


















When a Club like VALENCIA CF does not pay its players for more
than a month the effort falls off. That is what is occuring to Valencia
who are in "free-fall" after losing 2-1 to second last placed NUMANCIA.

Goals for Numancia were from ARANDA & BAKERO, & for Valencia
VICENTE scored first & his team only goal.


















DEPORTIVO jump into Euro table places with a huge win over RACING
5-3. The goals for Deportivo were from RODRIGUEZ, RIKI ( 2),
LAFITA & VERDU, while for Racing they came from PEREIRA, ZIGIC
& BERROCAL


















SPORTING DE GIJON needed a win to stay out of danger & they
managed it 1-2 away to OSASUNA who remain in the relegation
zone. BARRAL & CASTRO scored for Sporting, while NEKOUNAM
scored for Osasuna



















VALLADOLID won 2-3 RECREATIVO with goals from SESMA &
GOITOM (2), while for Recreativo ADRIAN & CAMUÑAS scored.

SEVILLA recovered from its Spanish Cup elimination & consolidates

its 3ºrd position with a 2-1 victory over ALMERIA. For Sevilla
KANOUTE & RENATO scored & NEGREDO converted a penalty for

Almeria

MALLORCA made an extraordinary comeback being 0-3 down to
finish equalizing the match with a 3-3 result over REAL BETIS.
Betis put three goals in via GONZALEZ, AURELIO & ARZU, but

then a heroic comeback started with goals from CASTRO (2) &
WEBO.

GETAFE lost to MALAGA 1-2 with the latter jumping into 5th place on
the table, with Deportivo also winning, Atletico gets "knocked" out of
Euro places. The goals for Malaga came from ELISEU & BAHA, while

for Getafe CONTRA scored their only goal

Saturday gave us three games with the following results:

VILLAREAL 1 (Fuentes) - ESPANYOL 0

FC BARCELONA defeated ATHLETIC BILBAO 2-0 & won oxigen over
Real Madrid after the latter drew. Now the gap is 6 points: See Video of

The Madrid derby between REAL MADRID & ATLETICO DE MADRID
finished in a 1-1 draw. Goals came from FORLAN & HUNTELAAR for
