SPAIN TESTS WITH ALTERNATIVES IN CASE VILLA DOES NOT MAKE IT.

SFS thought it give a brief post on how things are going for SPAIN in the
run up to the important World Cup 2010 Group qualifier against TURKEY
this Saturday in Madrid. This idea took weight after SFS received a few
good comments & emails from readers asking SFS thoughts about the possible
midfield combinations & what tactics maybe used by Spain on Saturday.

Spain has an injury worry that is DAVID VILLA who is carrying a knee
problem which may cause him to stay on the bench. With this in mind, Spanish
Coach Del Bosque is experimenting with alternatives in case Villa does not
arrive in time 100% fit. During today’s training Del Bosque tested the following
combination: Marcos Senna, Xabi Alonso, Silva & Riera both as wingers, with
Fernando Torres as the solitary forward. This tactic is the same that former
coach Luis Aragones used when Villa was injuried in the European
Championships that gave such good results.

Having said all this Spain could be trying to deflect attention & confuse
the opposition with this system of a solitary forward upfront. We still have
two days & Villa could be fit enough, rearing to go & start.

Whats your thoughts on Del Bosques alternative emergency set up?
