FC BARCELONA: PLANNING ITS "DEADLY" ATTACKING TRIDENT

Barcelona based daily “Mundo Deportivo” publish that FC BARCELONA
are busy planning next season. This is important as never before has the
saying “the early bird catches the worm” been so relevant if you keep in
mind that the competitors – Real Madrid, Manchester City, Manchester
United, etc – may take away the wished signings & torpedo your plans.

FC Barcelona has two signings in mind to join up front Leonel Messi & convert
their forward line into a “lean mean & deadly” attacking trident. The chosen
forwards are BAYERN MUNICH French International FRANCK RIBERY
& VALENCIA CF Spanish International DAVID VILLA. There is speculation
that with the latter there is already advanced conversations & that will the
former their have been initial contacts that will speed up in the next month.

Barça advances with this planning because its current star forward SAMUEL
ETO ´O
has not replied &/or made a move to being discussions on renovating
his soon to expire contract which ends in 2010. The talk is that Eto´o is seeking
a “hugh” pay increase that Barça is not willing to adhere to & that could be
the signal for departure. Their other forward THIERRY HENRY has two
more years of contract, however he has 32 years of age & his excellent season
has lifted interested from the Premier League, an option the Barça may wish to
take up (& the player himself) & recoup their initial investment.

These two unknowns ( Eto ´o & Henry) cannot put FC Barcelona on hold, as
a Club of this dimension & prestige must move on & plan its future, a task that
is being done & looks as if moving forward as “Mundo Deportivo” explains
& publishes.
