The SPANISH CUP has entered into the semi-final stage with one game
of the 1º leg just finished tonight & the other semi to be played tomorrow.
SEVILLA FC hosted ATHLETIC DE BILBAO in a game that was
well played by both, with the intensity & determination proper of
a semi-final. It was a head & tails match & allow me to explain, Bilbao
dominated the 1ºst half & Sevilla FC was master in the 2ºhalf.
In fact, Bilbao got ahead in the 42nd min from a cornor that FERNANDO
LLORENTE headed for goal to give his team a valuable away goal that
might be handy in the 2ºleg.
The 2ºhalf was Sevilla versus GORKA, the Bilbao keeper, who stopped
it all, until DUSCHER ( above) slammed in the equalizer for Sevilla in
the 61st min after a messy scramble in the goal area.
Sevilla continued with their attacks & received a penalty in the 83rd min
which Kanoute missed & Gorka solved to keep it all equal between both
teams. It seemed that luck & Gorka would ensure this game would end in
a draw until the last moment ACOSTA scored for Sevilla in the 92nd min.
Deserved win for Sevilla, just too powerfull in the 2ºhalf & Bilbao should
go away happy although they lost because they have an away goal & play
the 2ºleg with the home advantage. This tie is still wide open.
TOMORROW : FC Barcelona - Real Mallorca in the 2º semi-final
