JAVIER AGUIRRE was sacked yesterday. Player & Uruguayian
forward DIEGO FORLAN made some comments on Radio Marca
last night that gives the players angle, or at least his opinion.
Contrary, to rumours & stories that the player was unhappy at Atletico,
Forlan has publically commented that they are false, that he & his
teammates feel sad with the departure of Aguirre & that the whole team
is responsable for its bad 2009 performance. He adds that he believes
the Club took the easy option out of this situation.

SFS believes that it was an error to have dismissed Aguirre half way
through the season, in fact Atletico may even go worst. However,
I do think that the "Aguirre cycle" was coming to an end & perhaps
letting him go at the end of season may have been better. Yes, Aguirre
will be missed, but the Club needs to always plan for the Top, Nº1 &
anything else is a failure. Atletico cannot be satisfied with just an Uefa
place or 3ºrd , 2ºnd...it must develop a winners mentality, & Aguirre
just was not transmitting this idea enough. Sure the Club Directives are
also to blame, but they will never admit it, so forget this angle. Football
can be cruel & devasting, that is just how it is.
Being this, SFS also thinks Abel Resino is not the right candidate or
solution , but what is done is done & now we - all Atletico fans - must
support the team & left them. Tweet
