Great news to read that LIVERPOOL & Spanish International
forward FERNANDO TORRES was voted last night the Best
Player of the "Premier League" 2008. Another prize & recognition
for the exceptional first season in English Football with his 33 goals
in the Premier.
The Spaniard came in ahead of fancied Manchseter United & "Golden
Ball" favourite Cristiano Ronaldo to take the prize. Behind both came
Joeleen Lescott (Everton) & Richard Dunn (Man City).
Fernando Torres is currently in Spain with the National side as it
prepares itself for tomorrow´s friendly International against Chile.

Hi Striker, I was intrigued to hear of this award because it hasn't had any coverage here.
After a bit of internet research it turns out it is for the North West Premier League player of the year - therefore only including players from teams that are based in the North West of England (which explains the prominence of Lescott and Dunne). I couldn't find out who voted - fans, a panel of 'experts', players etc.
Torres has been fantastic to watch - his turn of pace and skill reminds me of Henry in his Arsenal days. But personally I have to say that Ronaldo should be ahead of Torres on the year - he was the leading player for Man Utd as they won the Premier League and Champs League titles.
Thanks T!,
Our media are a shifty sort, as they sold it as Premier League.
Nice observation.
Thanks mate
Anytime Striker!
