CANNAVARO finishes contract on the 30th of June 2009 & as off
the 1st of January 2009 can freely negotiate with any other Club he
chooses too. Logically, Cannavaro wishes to know as soon a possible
Real Madrid´s position.
Until recently, it was Real Madrid intention to let the Italian go,
as young Argentine International defender EZQUIEL GARAY -
currently on loan for one year at Racing - is the chosen player to take
his place next season. But according to "AS", Coach Schuster has let
known to all concerned that for him Cannavaro is undisputed in his
defensive scheme & a vital player for Real Madrid.
Coach Schuster wishes that the Italian continue one more year as
his experience & dressing room leadership outweights all other
considerations,plus the facts are that everytime Cannavaro plays,
Real Madrid receives less goals. Schuster has let known that if Real
has to sacrifice any defender to allow Cannavaro to stay next season,
that sacrificed player should be German Metzelder. Stay tuned for

Cannavaro is a world class defender, but I believe that it is time to give Ezequiel Garay a chance to wear Real Madrid's white jersey (once he is back from his loan deal at Racing de Santander). He has certainly deserved it after his great performances last season. I don't understand why Christoph Metzelder is not getting a chance to play. He is an extremely good and talented defender, and I would rather see him in the Bundesliga again rather than rotting in Real Madrid's bench or stands. I suppose that there is just too much competition for him at Real Madrid.
