MOTO GP: DEBON LEADS THE WAY IN FRANCE FOR SPANIARDS IN 250CC

The highlight of the day at Le Mons (French GP) was the first
victory ever for Spanish rider ALEX DEBÓN ( pictured below)
in the 250cc catagory. Great ride were the driver risked with
slicks on a "wet surface" that become dry as the race went on.
The 2ºplace went to Italian Simoncelli who overtook fellow
countryman Pasini in the last curve.

The overall World Championship points table in 250cc is:
1. Kallio 93pts; 2.Pasini 77pts;
3. A.Debón 59pts

In the 125 cc catagory Frenchmen MEGLIO (below) won
infront of his home crowd, ahead of Englishman Bardley Smith
& Spaniard NICO TEROL who was third.

The World Championship table looks the following:
1. Meglio 74pts; 2.Terol 66pts ; 3. Corsi 62pts.

The GP catagory was fabulous with Spanish flavor although the
Italian VALENTINO ROSSI showed us all a Masterclass of how to
race in difficult & "wet" conditions. The Italian won comfortably to
win his 90th GP race & equal Spanish legend Angel Nieto, which he
paid homage at the end of the race allowing Nieto to ride his bike &
himself in a lap of honour. Grand professional is Rossi! See VIDEO
of this occasion

However, the other highlight was the 2ºplace of injuried Spaniard
JORGE LORENZO who came in from 11th place & surprised
everyone with
his aggresive & risk taking riding. The Spanish driver
has both
ankles broken, but that did not stop him taking the
2ºplace (see
picture above Nº48), behind him was Colin Edwards
with 3ºrd & fourth went to Dani Pedrosa who fell out towards the end
after fighting hard in the early-mid stages.

The World Championship table looks as follows:
1. V.Rossi 97pts; 2. Dani Pedrosa 94pts; 3.J.Lorenzo 94pts

NEXT RACE : Mugello - ITALY - 1st of June
