CHAMPIONS LEAGUE 2008: SEVILLA FC LOSE & FC BARCELONA WIN

Two Spanish teams played tonight in Champions League with mixed
results, Sevilla lost but are still alive with the return game to be
played, & FC Barcelona won & managed to take a huge step towards
the Q/Finals.

The home side FENERBAHCE won 3-2 against SEVILLA FC in a
classical European clash of end to end stuff. The Turks started well
thanks to the header & goal from ex-Atletico de Madrid Serb forward
KEZMAN ( pictured above) who scored in the 16th min. Sevilla reacted
& with luck on their side benefited from an own goal from EDU that
allowed
them to equalize in the 22nd min

However, the match was a see-saw affair & Fenarbahce got back
ahead via a great goal from LUGANO ( below) in the 56th min, to
again see Sevilla comeback & equalize in the 65th min via
ESCUDE

Just when it seemed a draw would be the just result, SENTURK
scored for the Turks to give them the win in the 87th min. This make
the return game at Sevilla the all decider, as both sides are still in there
with respective advantages.

The "4 fantasticos" finally did not play as Samuel Eto´o stayed on the
bench still nursing his injury. However 2 of the 4, MESSI & HENRY
did enough to give FC BARCELONA the win 2-3 over GLASGOW
CELTIC.
Celtic Glasgow started well scoring first in the 15th min via
HESSENLINK,
but was cancelled rapidly by MESSI 3ºmin later with
his goal.

Then Celtic got ahead again in the 36th min via ROBSEN (above),
but that was it, Barça shifted up a gear & equalized in the 50th min
thanks to HENRY & then got ahead - with some luck from a defensive
mistake - with MESSI´s 2º goal in the 78th min.

The win & the away goals sets up Barça for the return game at home.
They are in the box seat to go into the Q/Fianls, however they must
not sin of over-confidence as the Scots will not doubt be going all out.

Both Sevilla and Fener couldn't defend worth a crap.

I'm not disappointed with the 3-2 outcome, a 1-0 win in the Sanchez Pizjuan gets us through, along with a 2-1 win for Sevilla.
