ATLETICO DE MADRID lost the "derby" 0 - 2 to REAL MADRID
in the first seconds of the game & to the great goalkeeping of CASILLAS,
a penalty not given & the posts. This does not mean Real Madrid played
badly at all, they reached the goal twice & grabbed their opportunities
efficiently, totally the opposite to what At.Madrid managed in the game.
It is clear that the "Achilles Heel" of Atletico is its defense. The shocking
error ( added with the nerves) by defender Pablo allowed Robinho to
get the ball & pass into the square to have once again RAUL ( above)
score Real´s 1º goal in the first seconds of the match. That shocked
Atletico & had them struggling until they found their position again.
Atletico managed to get its game on course with AGUERO firing &
FORLAN attacking with determination, but Real goalkeeper saved
2º important shots that had goal written on them, & hit the post twice
from Motta ( header) & Aguero. To add to this unlucky phase, SIMAO
injuried himself & Atletico lost an important player for the rest of the
clash.
Then VAN NISTELROOY scored Real´s 2º goal in the 41st min &
it was a shut case. The 2º half saw more Atletico attempts & a penalty
that was not given to them, that took all the wind out of the team &

added to the overall frustration.

OSASUNA managed a valuable win over local rivales ATHLETIC
DE BILBAO with a 2-0 victory, with goals from DADY in the 67th
min & VELA ( above) one minute later.

ALMERIA won 1-0 DEPORTIVO to put the latter into deeper
trouble as they are facing the abyss of 2º Division. The only
goal scored was by PULIDO in the 87th min for Almeria.
MALLORCA played LEVANTE away & the game finished in
an exciting 2-2 draw. For Mallorca GUIZA ( above) got back onto
the score sheet with his teams 2 goals ( 30th & 77th min). For
Levante GEIJO scored their first in the 19th & Brazilian ALVARO
(below) scored in the 88th min to grab the draw for his team.

VALLADOLID kept their winning streak with a 2-1 victory over
ESPANYOL. As last week, Valladolid forward LLORENTE (below)
scored all his teams goals (01 & 33min). Espanyol managed to score
via TORREJON in the 58th min, but it was not enough. Espanyol

Good news for REAL ZARAGOZA fans who won 3-1 MURCIA.

with a simple 1-0 win to keep them second on the classification table
& keep its arch rival in sight Real Madrid who is 7ºpoints ahead on

Both ATL and RM played well, the difference between the 2 sides was in the defence I'm sure all will agree.
Abbiati was awful and I'm not convinced by Eller at all.
It was quite an unlucky mistake by Lopez, but he also went to sleep marking Nistelrooy on the second goal. I would be angry with him if I were an ATL supporter, because he vcan play better.
I may be bias, but I don't agree it was a penalty, Salgado took the ball from him. The UK commentary also agreed with the ref.
ATL wingers were outstanding Maxi and Simao both had Salgado and Torres stretched beyond their limts on many occasions. torres was lucky not to get 2 yellows. Aguero will be a gret player, he alrady has great maturity which he showed when he tried to place it beyond Casillas.
I expected more from Forlan, and Reyes was very poor. I was expecting a really good game from Reyes and was quite worried when he came on.
(In order of performance) Casillas, Raul, Gago, Robinho, Canavaro all had very good games, so we had strength throughout the side in key positions.
Dont wish to argue. Most commentators here agree it was a penalty. But , thats football & RM won fairly.
I haven't seen it since I watched the game.
My girlfriend and I predicted a 2 - 2 draw, so I'm pretty happy.
I think you'll make Champions league football next season. I hope you retain some of the talents and improve your defense.....but not by too much.
