Atletico de Madrid & Real Madrid will meet in Round 20 of "La Liga"
this upcoming Sunday at 19.oo hours. The two clubs have a long &
historical rivalry as they "share" the same city: Madrid.
For those not familiar, Real Madrid represents the upper class &
elite, while Atletico de Madrid is working class, although these lines
blur with all types of fans in all classes following each. Although there
is a clear philosophy & "way of life" that differentiates both: Real is
seen as "the wonder club of success - & it is - while Atletico are the
fighting underdog that has the most loyal fans in Spanish Football.
This season 2007/2008 Atletico goes into this match 3ºrd on the table
& with a well balanced & performing side, with an awesome midfield
& forward line up ( Garcia, Simao, Aguero, Forlan...etc), & they are up
there with leaders Real Madrid. Real obviously wishes to beat its rival &
maintain its 7º points advantage over Fc Barcelona on the classification
table & title race.
Just to end, derby´s traditionally end with a drawn result. Here are the
photos of both squads for this season; SFS knows many readers & fans
enjoy these images.

Will you goto the game live Striker?
Will there be more away supporters than normal because of the physical proximity of the clubs?
Good luck by the way :)
No Evo,
Will see it on TV. The cold climate does not beat the warm atmosphere of home.
In fact , I enjoy more the Saturday clashes.
Reference to fans: a bit of everything , hope common sense rules.
Best
Hi!
A match between Atlético and Real is the most expected for an Atleti supporter. It´s sure that at least 5000 Real Madrid supporters will come to Vicente Calderón, and violence outdoors the stadium is assured too. Mmm, i hope the police will have common sense and all of us will enjoy a game without violence, inside and outside the field. It´s a matter concerning both police and supporters.
Forza Atleti!
- Rico.
Rojiblanco,
If Im not mistaken, police intervien when supporters get out of hands, correct?
Aupa ATM !
That´s true, but not all the true. I went to all Atlético-Real games since Atleti returned Primera división, and Atletico hooligans got out of hands usually (always perhaps), but police used full force (e.g. policemen on horses)even with normal supporters, including old people, kids, only because they were there. This happened two seasons ago. Yes, hooligans began the riots, but police had no mercy with innocent people.
Believe it was RM ultras that caused trouble on Sunday!
