SPANISH FOOTBALL - LA LIGA - ROUND 4_2007 RESULTS

Great weekend of Spanish Football with Round 4 of "La Liga" giving
us plenty of action & lots of goals. Teams questioned recently by their
fans (At. Madrid, Barça & Valencia) answered by winning & winning
well, thus halting the criticisms for the moment & "saving" the heads
of their respective coaches.

Two games played yesterday ( Saturday):

The 1º was the RECREATIVO - ESPANYOL clash were the former
managed a brilliant 2-1 victory thanks to 2 splendid goals from JAVI
GUERRERO
for Recreativo. The Espanyol goal came from RIERA
who scored early in the 4th min, but that did not spur on his team to
continue with the advantage.

The other Saturday clash was the much expected FC BARCELONA
- SEVILLA FC encounter were Barça pulled away with the victory
thanks to an inspired MESSI who scored both goals (one via penalty).
The game was a tactical affair & it was the Argentine that broke the
stailmate with his excellent play. Sevilla Fc managed a consolation
goal towards the end , that put some nerves into Barça , thanks to
KANOUTE. Here is the VIDEO of highlights of the match with its
goals:

Today, the rest of the games were played starting with the
VILLAREAL - MURCIA match, were Villareal took the points
thanks to the brilliant play by Italian youngster ROSSI (pictured)
who scored twice in the 84th & 88th min:
Final score 2-0

A questioned VALENCIA CF along with its coach Sanchez Flores
visited REAL BETIS & managed to grab the 3 points & put some
needed tranquility into the team & the rest of the week. Valencia
won 1- 2 thanks to goals by MIGUEL ( pictured) in the 68th min &
ex-Betis player ( now Valencia) JOAQUIN in the 82th min. Betis
managed to get one back via SOBIS in the 86th min, which did not
managed to halt the "fury" of its home crowd at the end of the game.

ATLETIC DE BILBAO defeated LEVANTE 1- 2 thanks to a great
game & two goals by ADURIZ ( pictured). Levante scored late in
the game via RIGANO

REAL ZARAGOZA needed a victory to regain confidence & they
did it in style with a 2-1 victory over OSASUNA. Zaragoza opened
the scoring via MATUZALEM ( pictured) in the 16th min. Then
Osasuna regained composure & equalized via JUAN FRAN in the
23th min, however Zaragoza got the 3 points with a goal from
DIEGO MILITO in the 70th min.

ALMERIA played a draw result 1-1 against MALLORCA. MANE
scored first for Almeria in the 34th min & GUIZA for Mallorca
equalized in the 77th min

ATLETICO DE MADRID
has been "hammered" by its fans & its
coach Aguirre was rumoured to be hanging on a fine wire, depending
on the outcome of this match. Atletico managed to shut the mouth
of many by defeating RACING DE SANTANDER 4-0 at home.

The scoring started in the 11th min via a long range shot by RAUL
GARCIA ( pictured above).

But it was not until the 2º half that Atletico took control & finally
showed its full potential & class. SERGIO AGUERO scored the
2º goal with a header in the 69th min (pictured above), followed
by the 3º goal via DIEGO FORLAN & the final & 4º goal thanks
to SIMAO in the 86th min. Great game by Atletico that should
give its coach Aguirre some needed oxygen & its team confidence.

GETAFE played DEPORTIVO A CORUÑA at home & the result
finished in a 0-0 draw.

VALLADOLID played REAL MADRID in a game that finished in
a 1-1 draw. Vallodolid are proving to be a good solid side & will give
lots of trouble to the leading clubs this season. Real Madrid was without
its in form player Sheijder, & had lots of troble trying to contain the
Valladolid wingers, as Salgado & Marcelo were out played continually
by Sesma & Sisi.
Valladolid scored first via PEDRO LOPEZ in the 70th min & looked set
to take the game, when coach Schuster brought on SAVIOLA in the 83rd
min & the Argentine managed to equalize 3 mins later. Good game for
Valladolid, & Real should welcome the 1 point, even though they played
below the level expected from them.
