SPANISH FOOTBALL. FRIENDLY PRE - SEASON GAMES

After missing 2 penalties ( Maxi Rodriguez & Maniche) the game
between CELTA DE VIGO & ATLETICO DE MADRID finished
0 - 0 & took both teams into a penalty shoot out.
That situation lead to Celta players Sousa & Perera missing their
shots & giving Atletico the game 2 - 4 & The XXXVII "City of Vigo"
Cup.
However, Atletico look a bit disorganized & lacking up front, but
this & their overall performance will improve with the incorporation
of the missing players like Aguero, Forlan...etc., or we hope so!

REAL MADRID played Portugues side OS BELENENSES in the
prestigious 4 team "Teresa Herrera Tournament" at A Coruña.

The game saw a difficult & quick Portugues side that put under pressure
a disfigured Real Madrid. Casillas , the Real goalkeeper was playing well,
thus telling us how things were going. The game was heading towards
an 0-0 finish when coach Schuster put on Baptista, & that added
movement & reach upfront. In an advancing last chance, Real via
ROBINHO passed two defenders to shoot & see the ball pass unexpectedly
under the legs of the Portugues goalkeeper: final score 1-0 to Real
Madrid. A lucky win which puts them up against host side
DEPORTIVO
DE A CORUÑA
in the final next Thursday.

Real won, but still looks slow & out of place, they can only get better.
Here is the VIDEO of the goal:

Other friendly games score:
Olympiakos 1 (Nuñez) - Osasuna 2 (Portillo;Sola)
Zaragoza 0 - Parma 2 (Crisci;Castellini)

With Atleti AND Real looking shaky I wonder who will be stronger of the 2 on opening day of the season?

:)

Incidentally, I thought Reyes looked settled and happy already when I saw him play a week or so ago.

Incidentally, that has to be some of the worst goal keeping I've seen in ages - he looked like he layed an egg!

Uggghh. It's aweful when your teams only goal is a goal like that. Winning can only help their confidence, but conceding a goal like that can only get you beat up in the parking lot of your home stadium after the match. Lucky for him, it was only a friendly.

Great news about Drenthe. I believe it this time.

By the way, I'm not concerned about the Madrids being shaky in the pre-season. They're both adjusting to new elements - in Real's case a new coach, in Atletico's case a new offense - but they are, and will remain, the two greatest clubs in Spain.
