DUNDEE UTD 0 - FC BARCELONA 1. FRIENDLY GAME AT SCOTLAND

First friendly game of the upcoming new season for FC BARCELONA
against local Scottish side DUNDEE UTD, with the score going Barça´s
way in the last minute thanks to a penalty.

Barça are doing their pre-season in Scotland & while there they will
play local sides to experiment & fine tune the team. Tonight they played
Dundee Utd in a good match with posts, a disallowed goal forUnited &

play from all the stars, including new signnings. Coach Frank Rijkaard
changed half his side at the 46 min, while the game still was a draw,
giving a run to youngsters Bojan, Giovanni plus Jorquera, Belleti, Deco
& new players Abidal & Henry. It was the latter who scored his first with
Barça & his teams only goal after a penalty, which Henry initially missed
but scored the rebound. Final score 0-1 to Barça with little conclusions
except this is just the start of things to come.

hi striker

you know where Henry played in the friendly? over Messi's spot?

and also Xavi and Iniesta. did they play wider than normal (compared to past season)? and any idea who was left who was right?

Hi Rio, I would not even bother analyzing at this stage...its experimentation time, cat & mouse tactics for other teams, try outs...etc.
Its the 1º practice game & you´ll see a lot more practice matches with plenty of "strange" things.
Cheers

I disagree striker.

Franky can't afford to experiment like last semester or he'll be risking his job. These preseason matches are all he gets to tune his team, especially since going from the previous 4-1-2-2-1 to the current 4-3-3 features some pretty fundamental tactical changes even though the two strategies looked alike from a distance...

On other hand, if the 4-3-3 doesn't work out in early stages, Rijkaard will be forced to make adjustments again, and that would be his worst nightmare. Judging from the way he had signed players this summer (another DM and a fullback), he's ready to gamble his career with the dutch 4-3-3. I don't think we will see dramatic changes any time soon.
