inclusions for next season, negotiations were well advanced &
the agent even commented it was a done deal , but Akalé has
slipped through their fingers & has finally rejected the offer.
This is a good example of how a good performing club, can build
its image & prestige Internationally, & thus attract the better
players. Everyone wishes to go & play for Real Madrid,
Barça, Seville...Liverpool, Man Utd...etc
But if like Atletico your results are irregular, the season is a disaster
& your not in Europe, would you want to come & play at
Atletico if your ambitious & wish to be at top level European

Securing a UEFA spot was the 'honey' to attract quality players. With that in doubt, players are wary to sign contracts.
