The last team to win back to back UEFA CUP titles was another
Spanish team, Real Madrid, in 1985 & 1986.
SEVILLE FC has repeated the feat winning once again the UEFA
CUP 2007 title after defeating an excellent & couragous R.C.D
ESPANYOL 2-2 ( 1- 3 on penalties).
An extraordinary game full of emotion, great play & "guts" to make
us Spaniards all proud of what our local clubs are capable of doing
on the European stage.
Seville Fc opened the scoring in the 17th minute after a great
counter-attack that started from Seville´s goalkeeper Palop,
that FABIANO - pictured - transformed : 0-1
ESPANYOL reacted quickly, with the whole team working well
& RIERA - pictured - scored the equalizer in the 27th minute: 1-1
Riera deserves a mention as he displayed great play & blessed us
with a fantastic game throughtout

Mid-way through the 2º half , MOISES receives a RED CARD
just when Espanyol were in full gear. This forced changes as
TAMUDO ( Captain & foward ) was substituted for a defender
LA CRUZ & Espanyol were down to 10 men.
This defensive posture stopped Seville & the game finished its
normal time 1-1 & went into EXTRA TIME
Seville took advantage of the 10 men & the tiredness of Espanyol
to pour on the pressure & eventually after waves of attacks,
KANOUTE scored in in 1º half of Extra time , to put his side again
ahead : 1-2

It looked like Seville would win, when substitute JONATAS
- pictured above - scored a long shot range goal in the last
few minutes of the 2º half of Extra time to equalize 2-2 &
take the game into extra time.

PALOP, Seville´s goalkeeper managed to stop 3 penalty
kicks in the shoot out & give his side the victory, although
Dani Alves , his collegue missed for Seville. Palop was voted
the MVP of the match.

However, speaking of goalkeepers, a very special mention to
Espanyol goalkeeper GORKA - pictured above - for the numerous
saves & in keeping his team alive & helping them also in taking
his side into penalties.

The first goal was my favorite, great distribution by the goalkeeper & great hustle by the attacker.
