BEST FOOTBALL LEAGUE IN THE WORLD - ENGLISH OR SPANISH? YOUR COMMENTS PLEASE

The wins of Chelsea & Manchester Utd yesterday, plus
Liverpool´s win tonight puts 3 English teams in the semi-

finals of the EUROPEAN CUP. A mean feat in any ones
language.

This has prompted , specially Man Utd. coach ALEX
FERGUSEN, to publically say aloud what many are now

thinking; that the English Premier League is the best football
competion in the world.
But is that totally true?

The Spanish League - "La Liga" - has had that "title" in recent
years, but the elimination of Real Madrid , Fc Barcelona & Valencia
CF has put that "crown" in danger.
But what about the fact the Spain has 3 teams in the UEFA Cup?
Some football experts consider the UEFA competition to be much
more harder to win than the Champions.

No one doubts that the influx of European coaches - Mourinho,
Benitez & company are bringing in new ideas to English football.
No one doubts that more & more Continental & African players

are making English football richer.
But Spain still has the Best world players

The debate is open, what do SFS readers think on this subject?

I would say that English is more stronger. Physically stronger & that is want tips the balance in modern football.

The top 2 or 3 teams should not say everything there is to say about a whole league. I am English and would probably agree that the top 2 teams in England are probably stronger than Barca, Real, Valencia at the momment.

But I think the mid table teams are stronger in Spain. Newcastle, Totenham, Everton, Bolton versus Atletic, Zara, Villareal, Depor, Racing. My money is on the Spanish teams

Barca teknik olarak mükemmel ancak transfer döneminde fizik ggücü yüksek oyuncular almalı.Ön liberoya momo sissoko olabilir.Defansada çok önemli transferler yapılmalı. Olaguer yada marquezle olmaz.Thuram da yaşlı.

Evo is dead right, and that is why a Spanish team will win the UEFA Cup.

Overall I feel both leagues are fairly close, and have pulled away from the German and Italian leagues.

My personal bias is towards the Spanish league - I feel the football is more attractive and the league is much more competitive. The English league has the financial muscle though - any talk of luring Ronaldo away from Manchester U is fanciful.

What's wrong with you people?! Liga is the strongest league, period.

Liga's bottom half could easily win most of EPL's bottom half. I watch both leagues frequently.

I think that's what we were trying to say, Lena, that there is a better balance in La Liga. However, purely in terms of top team comparison the England has it for me. Just look at the Champions League.
Maybe a couple of seasons ago, even last season Spain was clearly the best, but right now i think the top teams in England are stronger than anything La Liga has to offer (Barca included), now and probably for the next couple of seasons. Barca are just too inconsistent, defensively frail and poorly disciplined for me to rate them as the best in the world. They still (probably) have the finest attacking players in the world though, especially now Messi is really starting to mature. Mind you after watching ManU destroy Roma 7-1 the other night it's a very close call.

The Premier League is by far the stronger League now. Look at the amount of money mid table sides like Newcastle, Tottenham, Aston Villa, West Ham, etc can spend on players.
People can talk about English teams performing poorly in the Uefa Cup, but it's much more important financially that they do well in the Premier League first so they take the Uefa Cup less seriously.
Real madrid won La Liga last season and they played poorly most of the season. If a top side plays bad in England they come third or fourth just like Arsenal and Liverpool have proved over the last few seasons.
In England, league success is first priority to all the teams, and European second. In Spain, it's well known that European success is more important than league success.
To base a league on how strong it is on how they do in the Uefa Cup is completely wrong. People forget that teams who come third in the Championd League group stages go into the Uefa Cup. The four english teams always finish in the top 2, therefore don't drop into the Uefa Cup. This can't be said about other leagues.
To add to all that, there is no Christmas break in England. So all the english based teams are exhausted in the later half of the season while the spanish teams have had a break, play less games and are refreshed.

How can people say that La Liga mid table sides are better than Premier League mid table sides????
Could Racing attract or even afford a world class centre forward? I don't think so! Newcastle did, they payed £17 million for Michael Owen. Do you think he cosidered going to Racing or Zara haha?
Why didn't Tevez or Mascherano go to a mid table La Liga side instead of choosing a team struggling in the bottom half of the Premirship?
English teams are able to pay more money because it has more financial backers. This is because it's recognised as the best league in the world!
Better players make a better league and the Premiership attracts and can afford the best players in the world.

Rafa Benitez won the league with Valencia and then left to take over at Liverpool who finished 4th.
Ramos comes 3rd with Sevilla and leaves to take over at Tottenham who are 3rd from bottom.
I think this says everything about which league is stronger.

I know the premier league is the best league.

Ronaldo left the premeier league as he knows messi will win best player in the world award.

Messi scores goals for fun in la liga but has only scored 1 goal in 11 games against English teams!

Ronaldo will have a much eaiser time in spain.

Remember liverpool 5-0 Real Madrid 0 last season.

Spain only have 2 good teams were Premier league with Mancity spending have 5 or 6 very goog temas.

Premier in number 1
