SCHUSTER NEXT COACH OF REAL MADRID?

BERNARD SCHUSTER, ex-Barcelona, ex-Real Madrid
& ex-Atletico de Madrid, is said (source - "AS") to have
a verbal
agreement with REAL MADRID president, to take over
from Fabio Capello on the 1 st of July.

The German coach,
currently of GETAFE,
is considered by Directives
& fans the ideal man to take
over Real & give the team
a "new" philosophy after this

seasons poor performance.

Schuster was/is considered to
have been one of the finest
midfielders to have played
in European football during his

days as a professional player.

The news also serves to
motivate Capello for the rest
of the season, as his pride would
move him to leave Real Madrid
with at least some prestige & a title:
the Spanish League title.

Here´s a VIDEO of Schuster playing in the Euro Nations Cup Final

with 20 years of age. A real sensation & true "crack".

Any thoughts SFS readers?

Realistically, Real is going to go empty handed again this year. Right now, I can't see Capello or the team being able to pull enough together to make the difference. I really hope I'm wrong, but Barca have Eto'o back, so I suspect they will just get better. Right now I would be happy if we beat Sevilla and Valencia, and qualify for the champions league again this season.
I support Capello, but he needs to get the results if he is going to play the kind of defensive football he has been - we seem to have struggled with the easier games at home. I'm not sure if his player management is up to the job - clearly he hasn't got on with quite a few of the players. We needed Capello to make some of the nasty decisions that needed to be made, like getting rid of Ronaldo for instance. I expect that next season either Shuster or Mourinho will be in. I have reservations about Mourinho because of his contravertial nature, but he can certainly handle big name players and the press.
We need to find a suitable manager that can stay for several seasons to build the team from the the new young players and sort out the defense. If Shuster is the man who will do that then he will get my support, but we need to learn patience and give our managers a chance.

I can understand the twist striker. Madrid needs someone who has played for them, some who understands the Spanish league and someone who has control and authority over his players. Bernd is an Ex- Galactico, a master of the Spanish League, both as a player and as a coach, not forgetting what he is doing to Gatafe at the moment and most of all, a highly wanted coach; IMO is the best man for the Job. Benitez has just vowed to stay in Liverpool. Mourinho does not look likely to be at Madrid.

You know what I would consider a twist.

• Rijkaard -> Chelsea
• Schuster -> Real Madrid
• Mourinho -> Barca
• Capello -> AC Milan

What do you think?

Looks probable, although reading between the lines I still think Mourinho could still end up at Real judging from what has been said by Calderon and Mourinho himself in the press.

Just another note related to Getafe - Valencia have apparently signed Alexis from Getafe - I'm very dissappointed Real didn't get him.

Eurosport claims Bernd Schuster has refuse any links with Real Madrid and also the Rijkaard is a favourite for the Chelsea job. This is football business. It is always a bunch of interesting stories. I don't get, why anyone would not love football.

My money is on Mourinho at Real then :P

After the statement he made
"...I will leave Chelsea a millionaire..." he has lost face, not only to the fans to the Chelsea owner and board of directors, so again, I am with you. But we all know how things in football are.

The idea of Schuster running to the press to contradict the rumours makes it even more suspicious. He said, he has not spoken to anyone from Real Madrid, but he did not say he will not and most of all, he did not say he is no more interested in the post. Early this month he made it clear;

“…it is much likely that the Real Madrid post needs replacement…”

Because Capello has not made any impact. That on its own shows he is interested. But

If Schuster wants Kaka, do you believe, he wants Kaka to play in Gatafe? I believe he is Real Madrid's next coach.
