SPANISH FOOTBALL - "LA LIGA" - ROUND 23 RESULTS

Another great weekend of Spanish Football action in "La Liga".
Plenty of goals, controversy & red cards.

Yesterday 2 matches played. Firstly REAL MADRID meet
REAL BETIS at home & finished in a disappointing 0-0
draw. Betis was clearly the dominant team, specially after
Beckham received the red card & left his team with 10 men.
Real still cannot fine the form or play that can let us say that
they are out of the woods.

The other Saturday night match was the interesting & awaited
ZARAGOZA vs VILLAREAL game, where Zaragoza won 1-0
thanks to a goal from DIEGO MILITO. Villareal are getting
close to the relegation zone & need to pick up in their game if
they are to stay clear

Revelation team RECREATIVO DE HUELVA continues surprising
with a 1-0 win over REAL SOCIEDAD - pictured celebrating their
goal below

LUIS GRACIA
- pictured below - is in excellent form. He
scored two goals tonight in ESPANYOL´s 3 - 1 victory over
REAL MALLORCA. Espanyol consolidate themselves in mid-
table
.

CELTA
grab 3 vital away points with their important
0-1
victory over OSASUNA. Celta is battling to get out of relegation
zone, after the great start earlier in the season

ATHLETICO DE BILBAO, also uncomfortably, close to the
relegation zone also grabbed 3 vital points with a 2-0 win
over GETAFE. Athletico player ADURIZ - pictured below
celebrating - scored his teams 2 goals.

VALENCIA CF beat FC BARCELONA 2-1 in a very toughly
fought match between two teams that traditionally go all
out in recent times. So intense was the match that both pictured
below players ALBELDA & DECO were sent off with red cards.
Barça´s loss tightens the top part of the League ladder & puts
back the excitement into the season.

SEVILLE FC
put in their place ATLETCO DE MADRID
who were out matched & out played. KANOUTE pictured
below, was the man of the match with 2 goals , along
with teammate Daniel Alves. Pablo pulled a goal back for
Atletico late in the game. 3-1 a tough scoreline for any team,
more if your Atletico.

There is a sentence I have heard a lot this season.

"…The (N/N) is a difficult place to visit and it is [always] possible to lose,..."

This has been said about the following Stadia below. But still others have had good results there.

Getafe C.F - Coliseum Alfonso Pérez (Espanyol won here)
Real Madrid - Santiago Bernabéu ( Celta, Levante, Recreativo all won here)
Osasuna - Reyno de Navarra (Gatafe, Madrid, Celta and Racing Santander all won here)
Valencia - Mestalla ( Madrid won here).
Espanyol – Montjuïc( Nastic, Zaragoza, Madrid and Recreativo all won here)

I believe this is Rijkaard's standard excuss. What do you think?

Excuse or not , the home team always has the advantage, be it simply the home crowd.
Cheers
