ENGLAND LOSE 0-1 TO SPAIN

ENGLAND lost tonight 0-1 at "Old Trafford" to SPAIN
after 90mins of an intense midfield battle. It was precisely
here were SFS believes the game was won, the cool head
of the Spaniards halted to waves of attacks by the Englishmen
who insisted going
down the flanks to run into a competent
defence lead by PUYOL, PABLO & Company. However
mention must also go out to the midfielders who halted,
moved, opened & at time made "dizzy"
their opponents.

MORIENTES made his comeback to the Spanish side & missed
early on a goal that was already called , to see it fly over into the
crowd. An unbelievable miss!

PUYOL was solid & lead the defence in stopping the numerous
attempts of attack by England. Spain regained control mid way
through the 1ยบ half with DAVID VILLA making dangerous runs
& XAVI moving the ball & controlling the centre.

The 2 half saw numerous changes specially from the Spaniards,
with one of those - INIESTA - pictured below shooting - scoring
a gem from 15 mts to the top left hand corner of the goal.

From then onwards it was a contention strategy with a strong
Spanish midfield shutting out England until the end & securing
the victory.

Notes to mention from the Englishside was the return of
WOODGATE ( ex-Real Madrid ) who made us all happy to
see
him over his injury hurdle. Great LAMPARD as always,
a difficult
& sticky CROUCH trying hard & a great
FERDINAND very solid at the back.

Could have finished a draw & it would have been fair, however,
Spain did have the "wee edge" in control, play & patience that
justified their win. Well done boys, hard fought victory against
an always strong Englishside that may have missed Rooney.

Whats your opinion folks?

Crucial morale win for Spain! Very decent display indeed as they looked very comfortable for large portions of the game.

Uninspiring, crappy display by England. The squad selection was ridiculous. No doubt England supporters will be pointing fingers at McClaren. Many faults, but it seems clear that Gerrard and Lampard cannot play effectively together.

Interesting analysis Lena, did nt see your observation so clearly regarding lampard & gerrard. Althought they both are vital to the English squad, in SFS opinion.
Nice to see you back, SFS missed you.
Cheers
