The revolution come but the battle was lost, SWEDEN defeated
SPAIN 2-0 to put into crisis a Spanish team & its coach, who
will most likely (almost certainly) resign to give way to a new
model & to new ideas.
There was bad vibrations, lots
of inhouse arguements & plenty
of pressure before this match in
the Spanish camp.
After the 3-2 loss to Nth Ireland
coach Aragones left out the "old"
guard to revitalize the side. That
gamble did´nt pay off, the Spanish
defence was full of holes & its
attacking players unable to
penetrate a solid Swedish defence.
In the 9th minute ELMANDER -
pictured - scored to rock the visitors
& set the panic into the minds of the
players.
In the 2 half, Spain made an effort to pull one back, with Villa ,
Torres, Angulo & company forcing chances. In the 82th min
when Puyol nearly scored, a brilliant Swedish counterattack
"killed" the Spaniards with a goal from ALLBACK &
sealed the match
This signals the end of a cycle,
the death of a football model &
in certain sense, the end of the
"old guard" of players.
Luis Aragones - pictured - will most
likely resign to give way to a new
person who will have to revolutionize
the side & most importantly, give it
back confidence & the winning spirit.
Tough times ahead for the Spanish
National Squad, this is a heavy blow
& it will take some time to recover.
Once again, the Spanish National
side finds itself at the cross-roads &
with the real possibilty of not
reaching the Euro Championships.
Lets hope they can bounce back.
