SPAIN defeated GREECE in the final of Japan 70 - 47,
with an increible 1st half that set it all up to control the
rest of the match. Greece did´nt have its day with poor
shooting & did´nt recover from the shell shocked start.
He wasn´t playing due
to a foot injury in the
semi final against
Argentina.
But he cheered on his
team & lived the special
moment, that he helped
get his companions to.
PAU GASOL was voted
the MVP player of the
tournament.
Spain won this because they were the best team, TEAM the
word to highlight. Javi Navarro, Calderon, Jimenez, Garbajosa
- part of All Star 5 with Gasol - , Cabezas, Rodriguez, B.Rodriguez,
Reyes, Mumbre, M.Gasol & Fernandez
This new generation of players
can now begin a new era, in
which the Euros & Olympics
can now be put up as targets.
They have lifted a nation, shooken
off the "nearly there" syndrome
& given basketball a needed
boost in Spain to keep it alive
& well
Special mention to coach
PEPU HERNANDEZ, the living
example of hard work & concentration.
No one more than he deserves this prize.
