by defeating France on penalties after drawing 1-1 after
extra -time.
Italy are the living example of what has been the main characteristic
of the whole tournament, the success of the ANTI-FOOTBALL over
initiative, creativity & play making.
The saying goes ..." it does´nt matter how you play but how you win",
& thats precisely what has dominated throughtout the whole tournament.
In coming years we will all have forgotten the boring, tactical, poor
play, & just remember that tonight Italy has won its 4th World Champions

i strongly disagree....Italians have proved that they can not only defend but attack too to a great extent...they played excellent attacking football in their wins over Ghana, Germany, and Ukraine...they had to resort to their catenaccio defending only when they were reduced to 10 men as in the games against USA and Australia.
Italy have really excelled this World Cup and fully deserve their victory as World Champions! Viva Italy!!!!

Well, the World Cup certainly didn't live up to expectations. As I've said in other places on the Internet: so few goals, at times appalling ref decisions, and no 'surprise' teams making it through.

The group stages did see a lot of goals and a few exceptional ones as well. the way Argentina played was a feast to the eyes!
yes, the ref decisions were awful as ever but this time, it was way more interesting in the knockout rounds...thankfully we dint have surprise teams otherwise we would have watched matches such as Germany-Korea! We got to see some interesting ones like Germany-Arg, Holland-Port and Brazil-France. I do not understand how u can complain!
