WORLD CUP - SPAIN vs UKRAINE 4-0. BRILLIANT!

Great start by SPAIN in its 1º match of GROUP H against the
UKRAINE with a 4-0 victory, surprising everyone with the best
demostration of football of all the teams , so far, in this World
Cup. No one would have imagined before this match, that Spain
would be so clinical, decisive, rapid & firm as a team, as they
showed in Leipzig. It´s early days, but many people have raised
their bets after witnessing the authentic "MAGIC" that was
witnessed on the field.
The starting line-up was as expected:
Casillas - Ramos, Pablo, Puyol, Pernia - Senna, X.Alonso, Xavi -

Garcia, Torres & Villa.

The 1º goal was scored by XAVI ALONSO in the 12´minute off
a header, which calmed the nerves & set the machine in motion.

Spain began to take control in the midfield & with wing attacks,
driving the Ukraine defense hay-wire with a "ragging-bull" Fernando
Torres running riot. Out of all this came the 2º goal scored by
DAVID VILLA in the 16´minute, giving Spain the confidence
needed to really believe in itself.

The 2º half started as the 1º, a Torres incursion into the area in the
47´minute lead to a penalty which was taken & converted,
again by DAVID VILLA for the 3º goal

With Spain firmly in control & the Ukraine with 1º man less,
coach Aragones gave time to RAUL, ALBELDA & later
CESC & the machine kept on rolling. Until the 80´ minute
when PUYOL in a single handed play which started in the
midfield & culminated in 1- 2´s until he headed in the path
of TORRES to scored Spain´s 4º goal in a specutacular
fashion.

Thats my quick roundup of 90 minutes of fabulous play, where
names to stand out were PUYOL ( my man of the match), XAVI
(intelligent play-maker) & RAMOS ( tiredless along his wing).

But apart from Villa, who was a real "terrier" around the goal, the
name to watch & it could be his tournament, is the guy pictured
above "THE KID" Fernando Torres - speed, confidence, heading &
the "nerve" to try some outragous stuff. He is up to now, the media
star of the tournament & in the eye of all of Europe´s mayor clubs.
Atletico de Madrid President & coach have come out publically saying
that Torres belongs to Atletico, is under contract & is going nowhere.
How things changes.

So ,GOOD VIBRATIONS , great start, but let´s keep our feet & head
on the ground. Long ways as yet & plenty of tough matches ahead. But
Spain is the best team I´ve seen so far, up to this point, & that is always
a good sign.

If I can see a video I´ll upload here the goals as soon as available.

Thanks to "el mundo" for the pictures

good to see a great start by Spain...although the game was as good as over wen the red card was given to the Ukraine defender, which i thought was very harsh.

let's see if spain can keep up their good form in the latter rounds.

Luis Aragones has formed a young team full of players who want to show their potential. all in all it's a matter of believing in their own posibilities.

torres is great but villa is the most overlooked player in the team specially because of raul. he is in really good form and may be able to fight to become the top scorer if Ronaldo remains missing.

La jugada "maradoniana" de Puyol. Me quedo con esa. :)
