Historical night at Eindhoven for Seville FC & Spanish
Football. No one would have imagined before the match
that the score would end 0-4 in Seville favor. Seville´s
first ever European Title - the UEFA Cup 2005/06.
Thanks to Spanish sports dailys AS & Marca for the pics
you can link directly to them from here if wished. Lets
begin the round up , where I think, pictures speak a 1000
words.
The Seville FC line up at the start of the match.
This picture has become historical & will hang on many
walls for many, many years to come.
The Middlesbrough FC line up - worthy finalists, they can
be proud.
First goal - Luis Fabiano, outstanding header , excellent
game - 0-1
(27´min)
Maresca - 2 goals - brilliant split Middlesbrough apart from
the midfield (78´& 84´min) 0-2;0-3
Kanouté - substitute that scored the final goal
; 0-4 ( 89´min)
A solid game by the Spaniards, who have many great
players that need to be mentioned: David Alves ( great
future ahead for this man); David ( solid right back);
Navarro ( Captain & the defensive wall) & Palop
(the goalkeeper) who pulled off - God knows how - a
vital save from Viduka, that could have been the draw for
Middlesbrough (1-1 that was´nt) & could have put them
back in the game. Lastly, a possible penalty that left us
yes, no, yes & wasn´t called for Middlesbrough...harsh.
Excellent team play on the whole by Seville & worthy
winners.
Congratulations to Middlesbrough as well, it just
was´nt their night. No words can fill the empty space
of losing a final - we all know - but they have represented
their country well throught the whole tournament.
