BARÇA & REAL MADRID DRAW IN DERBY

A typical derby between 2 giants of Spanish football.Tonight saw Real Madrid play more with heart than with its head. Barcelona began strong and almost steam-rolled Real until the 21´ min when Robert Carlos stupidly received a red card , left his team with 10 men & gave a penalty for Ronaldinho to transform it into the first goal.
Then with 10 men , Real Mardrid recomposed its side taking off

Robinho & placing young defender Mejia to set up what would be the
key for the rest of the match : a solid defensive line that keep out everything that Barça threw at them from then on.

Fantastic night by keeper Casillas , proving his Spain´s Nº1 keeper & one of the best in the world, brilliant defensive play all night from Sergio Ramos & Mejia, plus an excellent match from Raul Bravo. These 4 proved to be the cornerstone to their draw against a superior Barcelona.

For Barça Deco was their best , running all night , shooting , passing & stopping, while Ronaldinho tried hard & Larsson attempted everything & almost scored the winner in the end. Barça played better , kept the ball longer & had more chances , but Real Madrid brought out it´s fighting spirit & guts to stop their attacks.

But lets not forget , the never say never , Brazilian crack Ronaldo who scored Real´s only goal ( 36´min) with a faboulous chip over Barça´s keeper Valdez , from a clinical pass from Baptista. Ronaldo shut up his critics by scoring & running all night as he was Real´s only reference point in attack seeing they were with 10 men only.

End result : DRAW like its always is historically speaking.

The other 2 matches played tonight were: Zaragoza 0 - Villareal 1 ( Roger 44¨) & R.Sociedad 3 ( Ansotgi, Skoubo, Prieto) - Malaga 0.

Mores matches tomorrow . Thanks to the Spanish paper AS for the pictures.

Great defense from Real Madrid , but Barcelona let them of the hook.

Great review of the match Striker.

Barca looked more affected by the sending off than Real, who played with a greater individual and collective resolve when Carlos got sent off and Mejua came on at centre-back.

I agree with your opinion on Casillas!
