SPANISH FOOTBALL - LIGA - ROUND 16 SUNDAY GAMES FINAL RESULTS

Spanish Football & Liga continued today with four matches of Round 16. Here are all the final results-scores along with all the goalscorers.

Spanish Liga Soccer 2013

Almeria & RCD Espanyol played out a "boring" 0 - 0 draw. Perhaps both sides were more tense than usual working in order to avoid losing points & preferred not to risk. Very tactical & disciplined from both teams which cancelled out the creative elements from their players. The note of the match was the penalty missed by Almeria which may have been an omen of the game.

Spanish Liga Soccer 2013

Real Sociedad overrun Real Betis , with their new Betis Coach Garrido debuting in Liga, winning 5 - 1. Betis fans will have more ammunition to claim that the teams troubles has nothing to do with who is the Coach but the Directive & their decisions in summer to sell their top players. In any case Real Sociedad gave themselves a feast & a moral boosting exhibition with the goals coming in the following manner:
  • Agirretxe 6th min, 1 - 0
  • Jorge Molina 19th min, 1 - 1
  • Ansotegi 55th min, 2 - 1
  • Griezmann 62nd min, 3 - 1
  • Agirretxe 62nd min, 4 - 1
  • Xabi Prieto 85th min, 5 - 1
Spanish Liga Soccer 2013

Sevilla FC & Athletic Club Bilbao played out a tense & rugged 1 - 1 draw. Sevilla got ahead early with a goal from young defender Alberto Moreno in the 4th min but Bilbao answered two minutes later with an equalizer from Susaeta. It was this last Bilbao player that later in the 45th min missed a penalty which Sevilla goalie Beto stopped in great fashion. From here & onwards it was a stalemate situation as both sides cancelled themselves out.

Sevilla will be disappointed with the result, but Bilbao maintains themselves up high on the Spanish League Ladder.

Spanish Football 2013

Atletico de Madrid won 3 - 0 Valencia CF & fell one goal short of taking the top spot of the Spanish Liga classification table ahead of FC Barcelona. They nearly did had Diego Costa scored a penalty in the 74th min that Valencia goalie Alves stopped.

Atletico deserved the victory as the team dominated Valencia from the start. However, it was in the second half that we saw all the goals came as Diego Costa single handedly ripped apart the Valencia defense. The forward was on fire & there was nothing Valencia players could do about it. The first goal came in the 59th min with a Diego Costa runaway counter-attack effort. The second came via Raul Garcia in the 63rd min just on 5 mins after substituting David Villa. In the 74th  min Costa missed a penalty but later in the 81st min Diego Costa won another penalty & here he scored

Great match for the home team, & big troubles at Valencia with Coach Djukic on the edge.

MONDAY NIGHT ROUND 16 MATCH:
