A real dilemma for Coach Jose Mourinho who warned at the start of the season that he needed another "top" striker in case this precise situation occured. The apparent alternative striker Karim Benzema is not proving to be a viable option & Mourinho does not see the Frenchman as being able to fill the gap left open by the Higuain injury.
Mourinho has been calling for an emergency signing in this "Winter Transfer Market" period but the Club has refused & insists in Benzema , a youngster from the B team &/or a re-design of the team. This has lead to very public conflicts between Mourinho & Real Madrid Directives but - for the moment - the Directives have their way & Mourinho is resigned to face the rest of the season without a Nº9 that can guarantee goals.
Will Real Madrid sign? The rumour is that the Nº9 that has been "verbally" talked is Athletic de Bilbao Spanish International FERNANDO LLORENTE, but there is a gentlemans pact that Real Madrid will not "attack" until the end of this season because At. Bilbao will celebrate Presidential Club elections & the departure NOW of Llorente would cause a sever Club - fan base backlash.
So, big decisions as Real Madrid & if they finally do not sign ( on loan ) a forward I am sure Mourinho will re-design the team with Cristiano Ronaldo acting as a Nº9 ( as done before at Manchester United) & place Kaká in someway to make compatible with Ozil. What is certain is that Benzema is in his final opportunities stage at the Club & must prove that he is the "right man" & change attitudes with goals when put into the main stage. Tweet
