The Friday night game was between Madrid Club Getafe & Granada. The final result was a 3 - 3 draw result with Getafe new Coach Cosmin Contra nearly pulling off a dream start but Granada fought back everytime to equalize.
Getafe scored first in the 6th min through Ciprian, but Granada answered back in the 35th min with a Riki goal. The match then was end to end stuff, blow for blow right until the end. Getafe went ahead again in the 38th min through Lisandro but Granada answered later in the 62nd min through El Arabi. And yes you guessed it, Getafe went ahead in the 72nd min with a Lafita goal & yes, Granada equalized in the 77th min with El Arabi again scoring. End result, great match & shared points.
Levante hosted Celta de Vigo & lost 0 - 1 to the only goal of the match by Nolito in the 18th min. The local team had a chance to equalize but Barral missed a penalty given to Levante. The local fans were not too impressed with that event.
Madrid Club Rayo Vallecano pulled another victory 3 - 1 over Almeria & manages to jump out of the Spanish Liga relegation zone of the classification table. The three points gives the Madrid Club hopes & strength in their endeavours to stay in Liga for next season.
The goals for Rayo Vallecano came from Alberto Bueno in the 37th min & then two goals from Larrivey ( 57th & 76th min ). The only goal for Almeria came through Soriano who scored in the 74th min.
Real Madrid travelled to Malaga FC & managed to win 0 - 1 to keep themselves on top of the Spanish Liga classification table. It was an ordinary match from Real Madrid that went from good to bad as the game continued its course. One can say that Malaga deserved more & a draw would have been more just than the loss. Perhaps Real Madrid had their heads in the mid week Champions League game, or next weekends "Clasico" against FC Barcelona, but I was surprised to see at the low level shown.
However, being practical, a win is a win & it gives them 3 points. To get their prize Real Madrid needed some individual brilliance from Cristiano Ronaldo who found space from three Malaga defenders to whip in a 22nd min goal that turned out to be the eventual winner.
Malaga was not turned back & in fact improved their Football, getting better as the minutes continued. The only reason they did not score was because they are ineffective with their goal opportunities, a problem that has flawed their Football all season.
The other news was the "injury" to Karim Benzema" in the first half after Cristiano Ronaldo "freight trained him" going after a goal. Everything indicates its a "corker" on the thigh, but will get results later this evening or tomorrow.
Atletico de Madrid keeps up with Real Madrid in the Spanish Liga title race after winning 1 - 0 RCD Espanyol & getting the 3 points. Even match with a defensive Espanyol very disciplined & playing the counter-attack. Chances to both teams but a break away play from Atletico de Madrid forward Diego Costa in the 55th min put his team ahead. Atletico conserved their minimal advantage with a couple of more chances to ensure the match victory.
