ATLETICO DE MADRID WINS 0 - 1 AC MILAN | UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

UEFA Champions League Football continued tonight with the Spanish representative Atletico de Madrid travelling to AC Milan for their 1º leg match. The final result was a very work & valuable 0 - 1 victory to Atletico de Madrid

UEFA Champions League 2014

The first half saw a better AC Milan with clear chances that forced Atletico goalkeeper Courtois to do his magic with some impressive & extraordinary saves. The Italians came out firing & with more intensity in their game than the Spaniards. The locals used their physical strength to knock around the visitors & there were a few heated moments between players as the tackling got a bit out of hand.

AC Milan player Kaka was being a nuisance & was leading his team creating opportunities that made the Atletico defence work hard to keep their goal clean.

The second half was another matter. The Spaniards settled & began to play their habitual Football of tight defending with hard midfield work & using their reference point upfront in Diego Costa. The Spanish-Brazilian was a menace to the Italian defence using his body & physical strength to protect the ball & hook up with his team-mates in attacks. The chances began to appear & Milan goalie Abatti had to work.

Atletico was rewarded in the 82nd min when Diego Costa headed in the only goal of the game. A just prize for perseverance & hard headed willingness to put his team ahead. As expected the Italians reacted & began looking for the equalizer & had their moments, but were foiled in their attempts by the solid Atletico de Madrid defence.

Important victory & away goal for the Spanish Football Team which has the advantage over the Italians for the return 2º leg match. The game is far from a shut case but Atletico is in front.
