With the time difference between New York & Madrid - 6 hours - many Spaniards were in bed sleeping when Spanish Tennis Player Rafael Nadal was lifting his second US OPEN Tennis title after defeating Novak Djokovic 6-2, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 in the the Final. Its the 60 title for Nadal & his 13th Grand Slam, the victory closes the gap on the Nº1 ranking position placing Nadal just 120 points behind Djokovic.
The Spanish Tennis ace acknowledged that it was a difficult & a hard worked match, commenting that Djokovic always takes him to his Tennis limits. A victory the was emotional for Rafael Nadal who last year was contemplating retiring if he could not overcome his serious knee injuries. But this title was another cherry to his personal Tennis season cake as he has been unbeatable on fast surface.
There is not much more to say about the match as I was in deep sleep & did not watch the game being beamed on pay TV in Spain. What I do know is that the 3rd set & the incredible comeback from a possible break by Nadal seemed to psychologically hit hard Djokovic & opened up the decisive 4th set for the Spaniard.
All I wish to do here is to dedicate a post today to Spain's "Greatest Sportsman of all Time" with only 27 years of age. An extraordinary Sportsman & Tennis player along with being an example to all of us as a person.
If the knees of Nadal hold out we could be installed for more great finals & games, encounters with Djokovic & more Tennis Titles. Congratulation Rafael Nadal, your an example & a reference for Spanish Sports & all Spaniards.
