Spanish Soccer - Football action continued today with four games of Round 29 of Liga scheduled. Here are the final results ( scores ) & all the goalscorers.
Valladolid hosted Osasuna & lost 1 - 3 to a more determined & effective visiting outfit. Osasuna are fighting for their Liga future & thus are very dangerous if not "finished off" early. Valladolid went ahead first via an own goal from Osasuna player Ruben in the 11th min & could have sentenced the match in the first half but failed multiple opportunities.
Valladolid paid from their misses & Osasuna took over in the second half with two goals from Kike Sola ( 50th & 60th min) & De las Cuevas in the 69th min. The Vallalodid loss puts them now in relegation zone fears.
Mallorca are in "deep shit" as are Deportivo A Coruña, both are touching relegation. An intense game as one would expect from two desperate Clubs fighting for their Liga survival.
Mallorca scored first via Casadesus in the 20th min, but Depor reacted with more heart with a 27th min equalizer from Silvio & more goals from Marchena in the 48th min & a third from Riki in the 60th min. Mallorca reacted late & managed a second from Nsue in the 88th min but lost a game that may well be remembered in coming months.
Great match between two Clubs that are having an excellent second half of Liga run. RCD Espanyol drew 2 - 2 with Real Sociedad.
Real Sociedad dominated but Espanyol used their advantages better especially in the counter-attacks. A balanced & fought out game, the goals came for Espanyol from Sergio Garcia in the 9th min & Stuani in the 38th min. Real Sociedad got their goals from Zurutuza in the 24th min & by an own goal from Espanyol defender Javi Lopez in the 76th min. Justly shared points.
Atletico de Madrid & Valencia CF played for serious Football issues tonight. Atletico Madrid to regain the second place of the Liga classification table & Valencia for Champions League positions aspirations. Serious night of work at the "office" that gave a 1 - 1 draw result & with it some controversy especially from the Atletico de Madrid point of view.
A wet & terrible cold night in Madrid that saw Valencia score first via Jonas in the 5th min. Atletico reacted immediately via Falcao who equalized a minute later. Valencia then let off the hook Atletico on various occasions that could have sentenced the match their way. However, Atletico stood firm & in the 62nd min Jonas hand-balled in the penalty area which the referee called involuntary. Atletico & the home crowd roared in disapproval & thus added the controversial element of the night.
Shared points, & both missed an opportunity tonight with regards to their initial Football objectives.
