As mentioned Real Madrid was on the ropes the 1º st half: Napoli took over the midfield & was overrunning the right flank of Real Madrid. It was not long before the Italians found the opening & scored through Mertens in the 23rd min. The locals then hit the post which would have given them a winning tie scoreline. However, Real Madrid held out until the end of the 45 minutes.
The 2º half was a different story. Real Madrid managed two quick goals through their defender Captain Sergio Ramos - 50th & 56th min - which psychologically "killed" off Napoli. Real Madrid brought on some fresh legs: Vasquez, Morata & Isco & took full control as Napoli tired. The third goal came from Morata in the 90th min & sealed things firmly.
End of story.
Napoli will be disappointed as they tried very hard, but fizzed out. At this level of Football the team needs to be 100%, full time, concentrated & not miss chances. Drop your guard slightly a teams of Real Madrid calibre give knock-out blows.
