SPANISH FOOTBALL | CHAMPIONS LEAGUE WEDNESDAY GROUPS RESULTS

UEFA Champions League Group matches continued tonight with three Spanish Football Clubs in action. Here are the final results & all the goalscorers.

Real Madrid travelled to Sweden for their Group A match against Malmo. The Spanish Club started with the following 11:

Keylor Navas; Carvajal, Varane, Nacho, Arbeloa; Toni Kroos, Casemiro; Kovacic, Benzema, Isco; & Cristiano Ronaldo,

Coach Benitez giving Marcelo & Modric a rest.

The final result was a 0 - 2 victory to Real Madrid with  Malmo down to 10 men after the 80th min. A "grey" performance from Real Madrid with Malmo creating chances but unfortunately for them ineffective in the definition.  The two goals came from Cristiano Ronaldo - 28th min & 90th min - breaking the Champions League goalscoring record of ex-Real Madrid Raul. The Portuguese is on the verge as well of overatking Raul as the highest goalscorer in the History of Real Madrid.

The game turned towards the Spaniards when Malmo lost a man to a red card & substitute Lucas "shook things" & gave the pass for the final CR7 goal.

Objective, the win & the three points achieved without real fanfare.

Atletico de Madrid started with the follow 11:

Oblak; Juanfran, Gimenez, Godin, Filipe Luis; Gabi, Tiago; Antoine Griezmann, Oliver, Correa; & Jackson Martinez,

for their Group C match against Benfica

The final result a 1 - 2 win to Benfica & deserved. The Spaniards started well & got ahead through Correa in the 29th min, but Benefica fought back & equalized in the 38th min through Gaitan

Benfica then continued with their good Football & the second came through Guides in the 51st min. Atletico de Madrid then made chances to lift their performance & attacked more looking for the equalizer but Benfica stood firm to grab an important victory away from home & the three points.

Atletico are not looking sharp this season & in La Liga they show similar signs of lack of creativity in the midfield to serve their forwards. Too vertical & becoming predictable, which Benfica managed to disarmed them tonight. Bad game from Atletico.

Sevilla FC travelled to Italy for the Group D match & started with the following 11:

Sergio Rico; Coke, Andreolli, Kolo, Tremoulinas; Krychowiak, N´zonzi; Reyes, Krohn-Delhi, Konoplyanka; & Gameiro,

However lost 2 - 0 to Juventus FC.

Sevilla was "invisible", headlines from Spanish Sports media after the 90 mins. The goals for Juventus came from Spaniard Morata with a header in the 41st min & Zaza in the 86th min. Sevilla did not shot at the Juventus goal , they were totally neutralized.
