Yesterday night Liga kicked off with Almeria drawing 1-1 with Cordoba. The goalscorers were for Almeria Mendez in the 11th min & the equalizer for the visitors through Fede in the 18th min. Highlight was the debut of 16 year old Almeria player Gaspar, we wish him all the luck in his career.
FC Barcelona hosted Athletic Club Bilbao & managed to grab the 3 points with a 2 - 0 win & final result. Barça Coach Luis Enrique surprised leaving Neymar on the bench giving young sensation Munir another chance to show his talent. The latter once again impressed & was unlucky to not have scored (had a goal disallowed).
Barça looked good all game with an exceptional Messi who got better as the game went on. The visitors had their chances but when Neymar came on in the second half he connected with Messi (incredible stuff from the Argentine with assistance) & the Brazilian scored both team goals, in the 79th min & in the 84th min. Perhaps Neymar is understanding the "message" from his Coach to get his head "centred" on the Football.
Athletic Club claimed two penalties, one to Aduriz from Mascherano when things were 0 - 0 & the other (less obvious) to Muniain from Pique. Commented these events, a deserved victory to Barça which is looking better & more dangerous each Round.
Different picture & result in the big Madrid city derby. Barça rivals Real Madrid lost 1 - 2 to current Liga Champions Atletico de Madrid. Two straight Liga loses to Real Madrid which will be shaking about the Club at this moment & making fans restless.
One has to say that the game overall was very equal with perhaps the difference being that At. Madrid took their chances better. Added to this Real Madrid again showed some defensive lapses that allowed the visitors to score. The opener from Atletico de Madrid came in the 11th min from a corner that Tiago scored with a header beating opposition markers, while the second & the winner came from Arda Turan in the 77th min with unusual space to shoot. Earlier in the 26th min Cristiano Ronaldo scored a penalty his teams only goal. CR7 was active but the Portuguese cannot do everything
Atletico played their habitual game following a very clear plan while Real Madrid perhaps still is looking for theirs. Real Madrid is still currently looking for Benzema (Chicharito came on in the 2nd half) while Gareth Bale was not 100% tonight although Atletico goalie Moya stopped an impressive free kick from the Welshman.
As mentioned, in the end the result shifted due to fine details that tonight went to the visitors who actively worked hard for the balance to tip their way. Real Madrid will be having a rough time thanks to media & fan criticism the following days & will need to urgently react because Barça & At. Madrid have already began to open up a points gap in Liga. Alarm bells perhaps?
Malaga hosted Levante & the final result was a 0 - 0 draw. Both teams very weary of each other & very tactical, not being able to convert their given opportunities. Shared points.
Celta de Vigo was very unlucky tonight when in the last moment of their match against Real Sociedad an own goal by Celta player Jony gave the visitors the equalizer. Earlier Celta de Vigo dominated proceedings with goals from Orellana in the 28th min & Larrivey in the 47th min. However, Real Sociedad crawled back & managed their important first goal in the 70th min thanks to Agirretxe. The visitors perseverance later paid off & in the last moments managed the equalizer, the manner was not important obviously. Final result 2 - 2 & shared points.
