SPANISH CUP | COPA DEL REY - KINGS CUP THURSDAY GAME FINAL RESULT

The last scheduled Spanish Cup - Copa del Rey ( Kings Cup ) 1º st leg Quarter-Final match tonight between Atletico de Madrid & Athletic Club Bilbao. The news out of the City of Barcelona 15 mins before this game announcing the resignation of FC Barcelona President Sandro Rosell eclipsed somewhat this encounter & shifted all the attention to the after shock-waves.

The final result was 1 - 0 to Atletico de Madrid with the decisive goal coming from defender Godin in the 40th min from a brilliant Koke pass. This leaves the Quarter-Final tie still wide open with the 2º leg still to be played at the Bilbao "stronghold" of "San Mames".

The match was more a class of strategy & Football tactics than pure entertainment. One may have been disappointed with the end result except if you are an Atletico de Madrid follower thanks to the final score.

Both teams had respect for each other & perhaps Bilbao was thinking more about the return leg at their ground as a better place to risk with their game. Atletico could have done more as they missed some clear chances, Adrian being one & Diego Costa another with the latter in a current goal dry spell.
