SPANISH FOOTBALL - LIGA - ROUND 2 SUNDAY GAMES RESULTS

Sunday had four Spanish Football matches as part of Liga Round 2 schedule. Top action on display with the following final results - scores & the goalscorers.

ATLETICO DE MADRID LIGA 2013

City of Madrid derby between Atletico de Madrid & Rayo Vallecano. The home team steam-rolled the visitors 5 - 0 with an impressive Diego Costa, Raul Garcia, Arda Turan & Luis Felipe. The score could have been more for Atletico had the team finsihed off more chances & David Villa hit the bar. Not much to really say as it was a "demolition job" done on Rayo from start to finish. The goal scorers were in the following order:
  • Raul Garcia 16th min
  • Diego Costa 20th min
  • Arda Turan 34th min
  • Thiago 52nd min
  • Raul Garcia 89th min
Atletico de Madrid get a confidence boost to travel mid-week to Barcelona for the 2 º leg of the Spanish Super Cup were the tie is currently 1-1 with FC Barcelona.

Soccer Spain 2013

Malaga FC hosted FC Barcelona to go down 0 - 1 in a match were Barcelona dominated the ball while Malaga defended seriously with concentrated organization to find counter-attacks. During one of those counter-attacks Malaga could have equalized in the 2º half but Fabrice hit the post & Sebas failed a header.

Neymar started on the bench along with Alves while Cesc Fabregas took over "duties" from Messi who stayed at Barcelona resting to recover from his muscle injury. Both mentioned players came on later in the 2º half with Alves on for goalscorer Adriano who scored in the 44th min & in doing so also injured himself. Late in the game Malaga again missed some sitters.

A relatively "good match" from Malaga which was unlucky, while Barcelona although dominant were not crushingly effective with goals as we have been accustomed to in the past. Without Messi the team lacked "spark".

Soccer Spain 2013

Levante hosted Sevilla FC to keep the scoreline to a 0 - 0 draw. Must have felt like a victory for Levante after losing 7 - 0 to Barça last week. Sevilla FC on the other hand will be unhappy with this result as they nearly lost the match in the end if goalkeeper Bento had not made two magnificent saves to stop a possible Levante goal. Sevilla needs to improve a lot more.

Spanish Football 2013

Celta de Vigo defeated 2 - 1 Real Betis with 10 men after Oubiña got a red card late in the 2º half. The match was very even & looked headed for a draw until Celta forward Charles scored in the 67th min under what looked off-side circumstances. Then in the 74th min Nolito got the second & the winner for Celta. Real Betis reacted too late & Ruben Castro got a consolation goal in the 90th min.

Tomorrow the last game of Round 2: Granada vs Real Madrid
