The Spanish Sports paper "Marca" caught off guard Atletico de Madrid Football Director Jose Luis Camimero in a secret lunch meeting with Valladolid German player Patrick Ebert. This has sent out a string of rumours that Atletico has the Valladolid player on its list of signing for next season. One can take the speculation as serious as both met in a "middle ground" restaurant halfway between the city of Valladolid & Madrid. It looked more like a spy scene from the Cold War period than a lunch between Football people.
The player ends contract in 2014 & has a 8M€ contract release clause. Ebert is having one of his best seasons since arriving at Spanish Football & Atletico de Madrid consider that for the price & the talent the player will be a great asset to the team. One would suppose beforehand that Valladolid will have a say in all this as well. No one from the Club was invited to the lunch.
