SPANISH FOOTBALL | MONDAY NIGHT ROUND 5 LIGA RESULTS

SPANISH FOOTBALL action this Monday Night via LA LIGA  with two matches, one of which was the Rayo Vallecano vs Real Madrid game suspended yesterday after an unknow person or group sabotaged the electric circuits of the Stadium. The another match was the scheduled Deportivo vs Sevilla Round 5 match.

RAYO VALLECANO managed to work all day on the electrical cables cut last night to finally play their Round 5 game against REAL MADRID. The latter had a must win situation so as to not let their rivals FC Barcelona get an 11 point break on the classification table. Real Madrid made some changes to the starting 11 with Essien, Modric & Benzema starting & Ramos was back in the team. End of the week long controvesry.

The final result was 0 - 2 to Real Madrid with goals from BENZEMA in the 13th min & CRISTIANO RONALDO in the 70th min via a penalty. Madrid had more chances than Rayo - which also had their share - & deserved the three points when looked at globally. Said this, Real Madrid still has a way to go to get to the level of last season & needs to work on all their field lines. I suppose now the priority is to get points & not to be "beautifully artistical" on the field.

Deportivo - Sevilla FC

DEPORTIVO A CORUÑA lost to SEVILLA FC 0 - 2. The match was very even & very contested until two thirds of the way into the match. Sevilla was slowly building up in intensity & that reached its optimum point with the opener via NEGREDO in the 75th min. Then the "man of the match" RAKITIC scored the second in the 84th min to seal the game & night for his Club. The key to the Sevilla victory was their persistence all night & the win was deserved.
