FC Barcelona dominated 75% of the match with their habitual brand-mark touch-ball Football, while Milan played with a defensive set up looking for the counter-attack opportunity & Ibrahimovic upfront to hold the ball while the Italian midfielders arrive for support. As you can read, very predictable stuff that worked for some moments but lost the "novelty effect" as the game went on.
Barça was clearly the team creating the chances & causing most danger & were rewarded with a penalty in the 11th min which MESSI converted into goal. Milan then found their "golden moments" & equalized via NOCERINO in the 32nd min. At this point Milan was in the semis, but their effort some was to become just a "flash in the pan".
The Milan "tyre" began losing progressively air from this point & another penalty was called for Barça when Italian defender Nesta "stupidly" fouled in the area when Barça was taking a corner. The Italians protested & may have had reason as it was a "player grab" that happens all the time & mostly gets uncalled, but LIONEL MESSI converted with goal in the 41st min.
The second half was mostly FC Barcelona with timid advances & dangerous moments from Milan. It was obvious that all the running after the ball would take its toll on the Italians as they gradually lost steam. ANDRES INIESTA put in the sealer in the 53rd min after Messi did his zig-zag stuff at the defenders.
Lastly just these notes of interest, Barça defender Pique went off injured & AC Milan player Pato who had come on as a substitute after a long spell out fell foul once again to injury.
So congrats to Barça, & Milan will need to consider a serious changing of the guard with some new blood. Prince was their main active asset & looked good while his team-mates were, frankly, very average tonight. Milan did do enough to merit a semis birth.
