SPANISH FOOTBALL - LEAGUE ROUND 27 SUNDAY GAMES RESULTS

Sunday & a big day of SPANISH FOOTBALL as 5 games were scheduled as part of Round 27 of  LA LIGA. Lets get straight into a brief run-down of the main events, the scorers & the final results.

SPANISH FOOTBALL
Miranda scores for Atletico de Madrid

ATLETICO DE MADRID won 2 - 0 GRANADA. The winner put in a very lacklustre performance & were given a real shake by the visitors for most of the clash.  The visitors complained that a penalty was not given to them when Atletico defender Miranda hand-balled in the area. It was that some player, MIRANDA, that put Atletico ahead in the 38th min.

The second half was more Granada than Atletico, but they lost Henrique to a red card in the 84th min with a strong tackle on Atletico player Koke. With Granada down with 10 men Atletico lifted a gear & a wonderful run down the line from defender Juan Fran found FALCAO who scored the second for the home side in the 92nd min.

Atletico did not put in a pretty game, but were more effective.

SPANISH FOOTBALL
Uche "Hat-Trick" man for Espanyol

RCD ESPANYOL were inspired today along with their forward UCHE who scored a HAT TRICK ( 3rd , 44th & 68th min ) to win RAYO VALLECANO 5 - 1. It was all Espanyol & the other two goals came from onloan Brazilian youngster COUTINHO ( 9th & 21st min) who showed his class.

Rayo managed a consolation goal from ex-Espanyol, now Rayo, player TAMUDO with his effort in the 54th min.

SPANISH FOOTBALL
Mallorca celebrate their goal

VALENCIA CF let slip a victory against REAL MALLORCA with the latter making a great comeback to finish the game in a 2 - 2 result. Valencia are going through a "rough patch" as they seem to lose concentration ( as with PSV Eindhoven mid-week) late in their games to allow their opponents to lift. This lack of "finishing power" has put their 3º rd place on the Spanish League classification table in danger with Malaga close behind.

Valencia started well & scored via TINO COSTA in the 23rd min & ADURIZ in the 42nd min, making everyone believe it would be clear sailing for the rest of the game. However the 2º half saw a turnaround with Mallorca dominating & putting Valencia on the ropes. The visitors goals came via NSUE in the 57th min & VICTOR in the 65th min. The frustration of Valencia was highlighted in the red card to Tino Costa in the 85th min.

SPANISH FOOTBALL
Messi with Colsa ( Racing vs FC Barcelona)

RACING DE SANTANDER lost 0 - 2 to FC BARCELONA & continue in the relegation zone of the ladder, while Barça maintains its chase & remains 10 points behind the leaders Real Madrid.

The man of the match was LIONEL MESSI wich was unstoppable & ran a riot against the Racing defence forcing all the defensive line players yellow cards, while he scored both match goals. The goals from  MESSI came in the 29th min & the second via a penalty in the 56th min.

The penalty was the big controversial moment of the game, as it seemed that the "grab" on Fabregas by defender Cisma was not so much as to call a penalty. In fact one could think it was a doggy penalty call, which lifts eye-brows after Barcelona heavily complained all week about past referee decisions. Today they were "rewarded".

Said this,  Barça deserved the victory as they played much better & dominated the match.

SPANISH FOOTBALL
Raul Garcia for Osasuna

Big Northen Spain match between OSASUNA & ATHLETIC CLUB BILBAO that ended with a 2 - 1 home victory. The visitors had their minds on the upcoming mid-week Europa League 2º leg clash with Man.Utd & it showed through most of the game, especially the first half. This does not dilute the Osasuna effort which was excellent as they went looking for the 3 points from the first second.

The first goal was an own goal by Bilbao defender ITURRASPE in the 9 th min, unlucky but the Osasuna build up deserved the finish. Then Osasuna midfielder RAUL GARCIA scored the teams second in the 31st min to put things into the victory path.

However, Bilbao is a young outfit full of Sporting pride & tradition & reacted admirably to which FERNANDO LLORENTE scored a "pearler" of a goal in the 55th min. From this moment onward the match intensified & Bilbao went looking for the equalizer, but Osasuna held firm & was solid in defence to finally take a well earned victory.
