FC BARCELONA 2 - AC MILAN 2 | GENK 0 - VALENCIA CF 0 | CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GROUP MATCH RESULTS

Spanish Football Clubs FC BARCELONA & VALENCIA CF started their CHAMPIONS LEAGUE Group games & their respective quest to win European Football most pretigious Club prize. Th experts  insist that a loss is to be avoided at all costs in the first match & both Spanish Football Clubs avoided this but both drew in the respective games.

Here is a quick summary of events with results & the scorers.

FC BARCELONA drew 2 - 2 in their Group H match against Italian Champs AC MILAN. Barça will be very disappointed as they dominated totally the game with Milan very defensive & just waiting for possible Barça "slips" in concentration to pounce on them & attempt to score. Those lapses of concentration came precisely at the start of the match when the Barça defence was caught sleeping to see PATO score in the 25th second to put Milan ahead, & again in the last moments when Barça thought they had things won & THIAGO SILVA equalized from a Seedorf corner in the 91st min.

During the 90 mins it was all Barça with plenty of opportunities & very good play. PEDRO equalized for Barça from a brilliant Messi slalom in the 35th min, & DAVID VILLA put Barça ahead in the 50th min with a brilliant free-kick. Then more good news with Barça Captain Carles Puyol back after his long injury in the second half.

The bad news for Barça, apart from the last minute slip & the Milan equalizing goal, was the injury to Andres Iniesta with a torn muscle that will know tomorrow to what extent he will out of action.

The other match with a Spanish Football representative was in Group E with VALENCIA FC away to Belgium Club GENK, the apparent "weaker" team of the Group. Their match finished in a 0 - 0 draw.

The Spaniards were superior but missed their opportunities as it looked like they were firing their guns at targets that were elsewhere from the Belgium net. The big chance came in the 71st min when Valencia defender RAMI did a spectacular overhead kick that hit the cross-bar. Had it gone in, apart from giving Valencia the victory, we would be talking about it all night & watching "Youtube" all day tomorrow.

Tomorrow it is the turn of Spanish Football Clubs Real Madrid & Villareal. Stay tuned!
